Should I get rid of Prerequisites and Disqualifiers? I searched the LMD file and found only about half a dozen cases in which I used them, and none of those cases were dramatically significant. I have obviated the need for them with the new non-random sequencing of encounters in the engine. Moreover, I can accomplish some of the capabilities of these two with the Consequences capability. I am reluctant, however, to delete a feature that might be a life-saver at some point in the future. In particular, I’m worried about how I’ll be handling the final battle with Mordred — it requires special handling to take into account the fact that different kinglets are on the two sides.

To hell with it — I’ll delete it, making some more vertical space available in the window, which will help people with displays less gargantuan than mine. I can always revert to a saved version of the code.

Later
I made the change and freed up a lot of screen space; the editor should now be accessible to most people.

Still later
I think I have figured out the first part of the solution for the battle mechanisms. In battle, Arthur will appeal to individual kinglets by calling upon their pBad_Good, pBumbling_Competent, or pTimid_Dominant, as in:

“Kaye, do this for me!”

“Kaye, trust me — I know what I’m doing.”

“Kaye, get your butt in gear and fight!”

Moreover, I don’t need a branching tree; the battle will proceed linearly. However, what WILL change are the casualty counts, which in turn will affect the kinglets’ assessment of Arthur’s Bumbling_Competent.
