The good news is that I have fully recovered from that damn vaccination.
I’m like a deer in the headlights: paralyzed by the complexities of the problems I face. I need to tackle this problem piece by piece.
First, I’m going to restrict the scripting of reactions to providing their own consequences. I’ll turn to the calculations in the Options later. In order to make the reactions usable, I must be able to carry out their inclination calculations, and so far my drop-down menus permit only the inclusion of the basic relationship variables (pBad_Good, etc). I need to take into consideration the morale of each unit, which in turn is based on the losses suffered.
It looks as if I’m going to have to completely rewrite the showdown battle scene again. The current version makes some assumptions regarding spatial reasoning. I had forgotten that a primary goal was to establish a situation in which the player must use social reasoning, not spatial reasoning, to win the battle. So once again, I must throw out a week’s worth of labor and start over. I’m too much the perfectionist.
